From cave paintings to computer graphics, aboriginal Totems to advertising, Medicine to Engineering, Solutional™ Aesthetic Abstraction and visual encounters – as communication - as message - - as experience - as Insight through Abstraction - involve (evolve out of) a process of reacting (responding) to problems (to ‘beauty’) (a Cognitive Aesthetic stimulus/reward/stimulus iterative) and challenges (adaptation)... where pattern and shape recognition - association and survival, as a function of a persistent problem solving process, cannot be disassociated from the act of creation and the inherent Aesthetic which is ultimately essential to human problem solving, as a process... where the intellectual (contemporary) notion of Art, as it deliberately distances itself from the decorative, the trite and the obvious, is about the conversation between the Artist (the maker) and the Designer, the Science and the Structure, the problem(solving) (the work) of inclusion and meaning and transcendence - as a (self) conscious - deliberate confrontation of the human experience... the observer - the creator, both necessary and unnecessary, (there is always a paradox) as an integral - (un)deniable interactive - reactive component of the Process of that conversation... in so far as the experience is evolutionary – referential – cumulative – learned – spontaneous – pedagogical – emotional – unpredictable – indefinable – convention challenging insight…
In an effort to better understand the relationship between the Rigorously Quantifiable and the Intuitively Quantifiable, as a function of humanity’s biologically adaptive propensity for Abstraction and Pattern Recognition, I’m interested in exploring the fundamental components contributing to the evolution of the notion of the Aesthetic in humans.
The very notion of the Aesthetic has evolved as a kind of intrinsic, Progressively Escalating, Cognitive Stimulus-Reward-Stimulus Iterative that underlies the very essence of humanity’s successful endeavors to solve problems, develop ‘tools’ and make decisions that ultimately result in the kinds of Ah Ha insights that take us beyond the obvious and expand the limits of our understanding.
Beyond mere survival, Visual Acuity, Abstraction and Pattern Recognition evolve, as process, and coalesce in the bicameral mind, conditioned by the influence of Instinct and the ‘gravitational’ effect of Cultural Mass, as a function of Perception and Visualization. The elemental Aesthetic Experience is actually a precursor to original and innovative problem solving, understanding and insight, in as much as the conscious and the subliminal, in concert, engender the spark of Realization within one’s consciousness, as the primary catalyst stimulating our capacity to experience Awe. The paradox lies in both the complexity and the simplicity of this Solutional Aesthetic™ relationship as process.
With the advent and the evolution of the internet and the potential for meaningful communication between seemingly disparate individuals and groups, the possibilities for leveraging Serendipity as a Force are significantly enhanced. My Theoretical Aesthetic Research ‘ebay Initiative’ seeks to utilize the phenomenon of ebay as a ‘Medium/Matrix’ that constitutes the millions of registered users as a way to create a unique form Solutional Aesthetic(TM) ‘Research’.
